11 Best Scopes for A Marlin Model 60 Rifle

If you have been taking an interest in hunting and bird-watching activities, you may already know that there are a wide variety of scopes that you can use for any particular rifle. For the Marlin model 60, there are fantastic scopes that will last you a very long time.

A scope is just a refracting telescope that helps you achieve greater control over the magnification and accuracy when focusing on the target.

There is a lot of debate on whether cheap scopes can do a good job of doing what the top-end scopes can effortlessly do, and the majority sides with me on the fact that the higher quality scope you have, easier your job it is!

In this short review, I walk you through the specs and features of various scopes that can be used for your Marlin Model 60. But before that, let’s talk a bit about the rifle.

Marlin Model 60

Over a period of over two decades, I have used hundreds of rifles to see which one would be a better choice for a fantastic budget rifle without compromising on the accuracy and precision.

The Marlin Model 60 is one of the most renowned scopes as it’s lightweight, compact and super easy to use.

I also like that unlike some overpriced scopes in the market, the budget scope delivers what it’s meant to, and is ideal for both beginners as well as seasoned hunters.

In this review, we take a look at the best scopes for the Marlin Model 60 rifle to see which suits you best. Let’s get started, shall we?

Best scopes for a Marlin Model 60 rifle

1. Simmons 3-9x32mm Riflescope
9.6/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

Personally, I love this scope, and that’s exactly why it’s on top of this list.

The Simmons 3 – 9 x 32 mm scope is a budget choice for a high-quality hunting scope that you can afford even on a tight budget. I also love that this has a matte black finish that just adds to the appeal.

The field can have very rough conditions, and so, a hunting scope has to be able to endure harsh climates without falling apart.

If I were to go an expedition and had to prepare for the worst, this is the scope I would be taking with me to use with my Marlin Model 60. Talking about choices, I don’t think you can go for a tougher one than this for reliability and value.

Like any high-quality optics equipment, the Simmons scope is fully multi-coated and is built out of durable and high-performance glass.

Thanks to the good quality construction, the resulting image is vivid and crisp and makes full use of the light passing in.

The Suregrip rubber surface makes sure that you don’t loose hold of the scope in any condition.

3.75 inches of eye relief offers plenty of room for convenience and with a 31.4 degrees field of view, you can rest assured that what you see is not inferior to any premium scope with double the price.

2. CVLIFE 3-9x40 Optics Scope
9.7/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

Looking for the toughest scope in the market?

I would say that the CVLIFE 3 – 9x 40 is a super sturdy scope made out of materials that impart significant strength. The aircraft-grade Alloy of Alumunium used here does raise the prices a bit but it’s well worth it.

If you don’t want to end up with a scope that doesn’t last long because it’s flimsy or poorly made, then you will be super happy with the CVLIFE scope.

Having 3 – 9x 40 also means that you can easily zoom on objects that are very far from you. If you are looking at scopes to buy for hunting across long distances, having a scope that actually lets you view across long distances is a no-brainer.

One of the things that I really like about this is that it’s also multi-coated. Most quality scopes are multi-coated, and what that means is that you get bright images with negligible loss of brightness. I just wanted to point that here, it transmits more than 90% light so you don’t need to worry about dim images.

The CVLOFE scope is also scratch-resistant thanks to the coating on the exterior of lenses. The last thing you would want on your lenses are scratches, right?

Talking about the optics, the scope features an objective lens of 1.57 inches and a tube diameter of an inch. I would say this is pretty standard and makes for an ideal scope in the budget range, thus keeping it in the second place on this list.

3. Barska AC10380 Plinker-22 Scope
9.3/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

You may be wondering that most scopes in the list sound pretty similar, and have similar specs. That’s probably because you need to have a fully multi-coated lens, and you need the scope to be weather-resistant so it can last for many years.

The Barska 3 – 9x 32 Plinker 22 is a cool scope that is very convenient to use.

Being fully multi-coated means that the scope lenses can transmit maximum light so that the image is crisp and bright.

Pair that with the fact that this rifle can withstand anything you throw at it, then suddenly, the Barshka scope becomes a serious contender for one of the best scopes in the market for somebody on a limited budget.

The materials used on this are also high-grade ones, and as a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if it lasted for more than a decade.

Imagine a scope that surpasses others in resilence, waterproofing, and shock-resistance, and also comes cheap. The Barska scope is exactly that!

If you are confused by the specs, you may choose to simply ignore them on this list as these numbers aren’t much different. Regardless, the Barska scope has a 32mm objective lens that does its job quite well and 3.5 inches of eye relief for convenient viewing.

Would I suggest this for a beginner? I don’t like spending bucks on stuff that is cheap and won’t last me for years, so take it from me; I would have absolutely loved one of these while I was starting out with my rifle, so by all means – go for it!

4. TASCO MAG39X32D Rimfire Scope
9.5/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

It’s often the case that you need to choose between a scope that’s got superior specs and one that looks awesome! I would go for one with the upper hand in magnification and lenses but if I could go for one that combines both aesthetics and utility, I would definitely go for that one.

The Tasco Rimfire 3 – 9 x 32mm scope is a beautiful scope that is made out of super sturdy materials. In a way, this scope brings out the best of both worlds. This scope includes rings and is actually tailor-made for .22 Rimfire rifles.

I think that the construction out of a 1-inch tube is a good one, and actually standard for most rifle scopes.

If you have never heard about Tasco scopes, you should definitely check them out as the brand never fails to put out impressive features on budget models and boasts high-performing optics.

The lenses on this are multi-layered and fully multi-coated which just means that the optics on this enable it to transmit maximum light without any losses. Just like the scopes listed above, the Rimfire series Tasco scope also has multi-layered lens coatings that help improve image brightness.

The multi-coated optics offers waterproofing and fog proofing as well, so it’s a very safe choice as far as practical scopes are concerned.

One of the things that I like about this is that the magnification is pretty standard on this, and the 32mm objective lens is a great choice on this.

If you are looking for a quality scope that lives up to your expectations and can resist tough environments, this scope is an ideal choice.

9.2/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

If you’ve read some of my other reviews on the top picks for binoculars, you will know that I am a huge fan of Vortex binoculars.

The brand, unsurprisingly, also puts out high-quality scopes that are well-priced and suitable for almost anybody. The Diamond series has scopes in the range 1.75x – 5x, with 5x being the highest level of magnification. If you are new to high-magnification scopes, you should know that better the image stabilization, better the experience.

The turrets feel very reliable and comfortable, and the fast focus eyepiece allows you to move swiftly between objects.

Fully-multi coated lenses offer maximum light transmission and the scope is really a fantastic scope when it comes to hunting.

There are also second focal plane reticles so that what you see through the lenses remains more or less the same.

What do I like about this? Well.. the Vortex Diamondback scope with a second focal plane also features the ability to reset the metal turrets after zooming in.

If you work in places where there is high precipitation or humidity, you will thank this scope for the Argon purging and O-ring sealing that make it a fog-proof and waterproof scope with excellent performance.

The Rimfire scope is a wonderful scope that performs best for long-distance shooting and hunting purposes. The 3 – 7x magnification is perfect for those who are into varmint hunting or game hunting.

One thing that I really love about this is that the scope has ¼ MOA click adjustments that will help you shoot with extreme precision. With an eye relief of 2.55 inches and a 30/30 crosshair reticle, the Barska Rimfire scope is one of the best scopes in the market.

The scope works great even under low-light conditions thanks to the excellent optics quality. What I like most about this scope is that the scope is shockproof as well as weatherproof, so you don’t need to worry about it not being up to par with scopes that need to withstand extreme conditions.

For the price, the scope is built extremely well and lasts for a very long time.

I also like that this scope comes with a CDS turret that flats your works. If there’s one thing that I don’t like about this scope, it’s just that you need to buy the accessories separately.

9.3/10 Our Score

Our Verdict

The Vortex Crossfire Red Dot Sight Gen II may be down on this list but it’s one of the best budget scopes in the current age. It offers everything you would like to have on a hunting scope- durability, tough materials, easy operation, and bright images.

You can think of it as one that looks typical but provides exceptional value in performance.

It comes with a Dead-Hold BDC reticle which is great for hunting or shooting over long distances.

What I like the most about the Vortex scope is that the adjustable objective does a great job at getting focused and parallax-free images. The transmission on this is also pretty good.

What I like about this scope is that it offers maximum light transmission and brightness. All the scopes on this list are budget scopes that offer amazing value, so it may be hard to choose one.

I recommend getting this one if you are unsure about what you are getting into with the other scopes.

The construction on this is also top-notch! The scope is built on a 1-inch tube frame and has resettable turrets that make fiddling easier.

When you are out on the field, protecting your expensive equipment from rain and fog is a huge concern. The scope is actually fully sealed and filled with Nitrogen, so it’s completely rainproof. It’s also shockproof but you would probably want to care for it as tools last longer when cared for.

In case you need to shoot across long distances, which is obviously why you are getting this scope- the Mil-Dot Reticle will prove to be very useful to you.
